Metamorphosis Poster

Illustrated poster for a stage adaptation of Franz Kafka’s short story, Metamorphosis. The pencil drawings are meant to depict the protagonist’s transformation into a grotesque, but unidentifiable, insect-like creature.

Poster - Pecha Kucha

Illustrated poster for a Pecha Kucha night. Had so much fun illustrating the characters and adding little details. If it wasn’t for the deadline, I’d have kept on drawing characters forever.

Anyway, the staircases that go off into all directions are meant to show how Pecha Kucha nights attract diverse, unpredictable and exciting people. Check out what it’s all about at http://www.pecha-kucha.org/

1 note

I’ve been trying my hand at drypoint etching in these editorial illustrations accompanying an article on Cape Town as the World Design Capital of 2014 (More info can be found at www.capetown2014.co.za. Check it out, it’s pretty cool). On a conceptual level, the reason these etchings have been combined with vector illustrations is to bring a human, organic feel to the domain of (sometimes technical and obscure) design.

“The Sage and the Totem” - Illustrator, Photoshop

In an ocean of darkness, smoke is billowing from a massive totem’s chimneys as a lone sage is feverishly controlling the monolith’s mysterious processes.

It’s something totally different from what I normally do, inspired by the strange, intriguing settings in San Poggio’s paintings (http://sp-paint.blogspot.com), as well as the textures in Studio Breinmasjien’s (http://studiobreinmasjien.blogspot.com) work.
